The Spiritual and Physical Dimensions
I am surrounded by two worlds: an invisible spiritual world and a visible physical world. I am a follower and believer in Jesus Christ in both the spiritual world and in the physical world. Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and He rules over both dimensions.
The Holy Spirit of God has blessed me since birth. You might say that I believe my life was predestined for this time in history. Predestined in the since that my genetic makeup, my DNA code, was programmed to know God from birth. I have never denied the existence of God, and His Spirit and a protective force has surrounded my life since birth. There is not enough space to explain this in this format, but I have explained it in my book, Confessions of a Closet Christian.
I refer to myself as a Closet Christian because I kept my calling hidden for many years. I am a “one-talent” person like Jesus described in one of His kingdom of heaven parables, the Parable of the Talents, recorded in Matthews 25:14-30. I hid or did not recognize my talent for many years. Although blessed and called to be God’s from birth, I could have cast it all away if I had left my talent buried. Fortunately, I discovered it and now I am using it as God intended.
But let me say this, I am not dogmatic in my profession of Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. By dogmatic I mean: I do not condemn those who do not believe as I do; I do not force my faith and beliefs on anyone; I do not claim to have all the religious answers; I will be a friend if I like you as a person no matter what your religious views; I am not a religious zealot; I am not judgmental; I do not picket with signs and challenge the faith and beliefs of others.
Do not get me wrong. I do not keep my religious views hidden, and I am not ashamed of Jesus Christ. My religious witness is this: I believe what I believe, and I will not waiver from that belief. I believe Jesus was being truthful when He said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” John 11:25-26. If you believe otherwise, take it up with the god you pray to as I am only stating what Jesus said about Himself. I hope my life reflects something good that you would want to know more about and why I have peace that surpasses all understanding. I want you to be comfortable asking me about my peace. I have experienced the power of God’s Holy Spirit in my life so I know God is real.
Until you experience, acknowledge and accept God’s Spirit you will not understand. You will only see a person’s belief in Jesus Christ as the world sees it— as foolishness and naïveté. I also know that I cannot convince you to surrender your free will to God if he has not made Himself known to you; that is, He has not convicted your heart and soul that something is missing in you life. You cannot find God in your mind or in your intellectual reasoning or pursuit.
You can only find God in your spirit when His Spirit awakens you to His presence. As you “craw in the gutter of life” lamenting your situation, ask God to help you find peace and understanding. He will set you free when you discover the truth, and the best of all — it is free for the asking.
I pray that God is pleading with your soul and spirit. If he is: accept his plea; confess your sins; ask Jesus to come into your heart believing that He was born of a virgin, died on a cross for your transgressions, and was raised from the dead to save you; receive His Spirit and follow the Spirits lead to a new life in Jesus Christ.
