Finding True Happiness

Are you happy?  If “yes,” my congratulations go out to you.  If “no,” I can only ask, “Would you like to be happy?”

Happiness is a state of mind.  No one else can make you happy.  Only you can make yourself happy.  People spend their whole life seeking happiness in the materialistic pursuit of “things,” believing happiness will be achieved once they have what they envision will make them happy.

When happiness is not found, excuses abound.  Have you been deceived by the “If only syndrome?”  If only I had this, if only so-and-so had not happened and on and on it goes when true happiness and the “peace that surpasses all understanding” can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ.

There is nothing I can say to help you find true happiness.  True happiness can only be found in Jesus Christ if or when God touches your soul and spirit and you feel His calling.  You will know because you will feel His presence convicting you that you need His grace and forgiveness.

I have often said, “Some have to crawl in the gutter of life exhausting all of their will for living to finally acknowledge the call of God.”  Many others will hear His call through a message that convicts them that there is more to life than what they have experienced knowing that continuing in their present life pursuits will never provide the happiness they desire.

All will one day have a need for God.  An unexpected death, divorce, betrayal or some other calamity may eventually haunt your soul and spirit.  Seek Jesus Christ now and know that no matter what awaits you in life, Jesus will be by your side all the way.

Don’t wait to call upon Jesus because you never know when you will breathe your last breath.  Seek Him now so that you will find happiness and the “peace that surpasses all understanding” while you still have life to enjoy.

This past week my wife and I were vacationing in Florida at my mother-in-law’s home.   I was afraid I would not be able to stay on my schedule and my weight would go up.  The weather was terrible: cold, windy and a lot of rain.  We spent all of the week doing repairs, hanging pictures and general handy man type work.  We go down once or twice a quarter and “earn our keep” by doing miscellaneous repairs.  It is, however, mostly beach walking and fishing when the weather is nice.

We are back at home so I’ll return to my exercise routines.  My latest lab report showed that I was deficient in Vitamin D so I am now taking 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week for eight weeks.

Nutrition schedule:

My nutrition meal schedule and food items remain the same despite my being out of town.

President Obama, the Antichrist?

As a student of biblical prophecy I find myself asking this question, “Is President Obama the Antichrist?”  Deep down in my gut I do not believe he is the Antichrist, but if he is not, he sure is going to miss a good calling.

The end time Antichrist is called the man of lawlessness.  He will be a powerful and charismatic statesman who will deceive many.  At the appropriate time he will declare, “I am God.” (He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” as recorded in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 NIV.)

With this declaration Satan will possess the Antichrist, who will then unleash three and one-half years of “hell on earth.”  The Antichrist will be the leader of the New World Order / One World Government.  It is interesting that Henry Kissinger, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who served in the Nixon Administration as Secretary of State and as National Security Advisor, remarked that President Obama was being “primed” to be the leader of the New World Order.

While President Obama may not be the prophesied Antichrist, he is charismatic and capable of distorting the truth, as politicians do, so persuasively and consistently that he still manages to deceive approximately thirty percent of Americans—more than fifty percent when he was elected President.  Do we as Americans want to “fundamentally change America” as President Obama proposes by destroying what our founders designed?

To discard our Constitution and replace it with a European Socialist type state where big government would controls all aspects of its citizen’s lives would be a travesty.  I for one say, “No!”  It is time to replace all “self-serving politicians” who will not uphold the American Constitution. Lets elect “servants of the people” who will be representatives of their constituents and will defend freedom and our Republic.  Do not sell your vote and freedom for a promised loaf of bread.

When the true Antichrist reveals himself, he will be able to deceive and persuade the whole world into worshiping him as a god; all except the true followers of Jesus Christ. As it is written in 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12,  “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”

Exciting times are ahead for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Terrible times are ahead for those who will welcome and worship the Antichrist.   Have you chosen your Lord and Savior?  Are you certain in your choice?

Islam or Christianity

If those who call themselves Christians do not stand firm in their faith, then they will not stand at all.  I have paraphrased Isaiah 7:9 (NIV) where it is written “… If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”

While the number of converts to Christianity in America is declining the number of converts to Islam is increasing.  I do not understand the lure of Islam over Christianity, especially among women, but it is a fact that cannot be ignored.

America is in for a great awakening when, not if, Islam becomes the dominant religion / ideology.  Under  Islam and Sharia Law,  America could become a society where male dominance, wife beatings and honor killings are acceptable behaviors.  Is this what the American woman desires?  While we are at war with Islamic extremists, “peaceful” Islam is silently establishing itself in our schools, government and legal system.

America was once a moral nation, but it can no longer claim morality as a virtue.  God was asked to leave, the Ten Commandments were thrown out, prayer was prohibited, the Constitution was rejected and revisionist are rewriting America’s history.  Why would a people choose evil over good, satanic immorality over Godly morality, diseased bodies over healthy bodies? It is simple; it is the nature of man when he refuses to acknowledge God, his creator.

For many years godless, self-righteous “do-goods” have been complicit in enabling our enemies to infiltrate our homes and our nation.  Unless there is a new awakening and America returns to its reliance upon for God, only days of sadness await our children and grandchildren.  Look to history, accept and believe the commandments given to man more than two thousand years ago.

Will Allah be America’s new god, or will American Christians confess their transgressions and seek forgiveness from the one true God as revealed in Jesus Christ, and as recognized by our founders in the establishment of this great country?

The time of the end is fast approaching. Wake up Christians to the danger of Islam!

Weight Loss 02-08-10 Update

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?  If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NIV).

Waist:                         43                  42                 41              41                41

How I feel:

I feel good both mentally and physically.  My gastrointestinal specialist has scheduled an x-ray and a throat procedure to explore my acid reflux symptoms.  I’ll fill you in after the procedures are complete.  My nitroglycerin pills relieve both my angina pains and acid reflux symptoms; I need to know what I am experiencing.

Physical activity:

I maintained my morning exercise and step program as planned.  I will be out of town most of this week, and my only exercise will be walking.  I must control my eating this week so as to not gain back any weight.

Nutrition schedule:

My nutrition meal schedule and food items remain the same.

I am concerned that my weight has not gone down as fast as I would have liked.   My food intake may be greater than I need, or maybe I need to increase my exercise program to make it a little more strenuous. Maybe I am not frying enough of the fat out of the bacon; some say turkey bacon would be better. HA! HA!

Weight Loss - 01-30-2010 update

My Weight Loss Program for 2010

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?  If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NIV).

Progress report for period ending 01-30-10

Vital Signs:             01-09-10      01-16-10       01-23-10       01-30-10

 Weight:                    194lbs           193lbs            191.5lbs     192lbs

Blood Pressure:       128/62          127/62             123/61        118/62

Pulse:                         73                   61                   61              57

Waist:                         43                  42                   41              41

How I feel:

I feel good both mentally and physically.  However, I am still bothered by reflux symptoms.  I have been back on Nexium one week.  I never have any symptoms while exercising so I am fairly certain my symptoms are reflux related.

Physical activity:

I have maintained my morning exercise and step program.  I am going to bump up the intensity this week: 20-minute mile on both treadmill and elliptical machines.

Nutrition schedule:

My nutrition meal schedule and food items remain the same.   Except, my social calendar had me eating at more restaurants this past week.  Whole grain breads and chips were my weakness.  Also, I ate less fruit this week than I had in previous weeks. I love fruit, but I was eating five plus servings of fruit between meals in addition to my snacks.
